Chhattisgarh HC rejects bail application of two Maoists arrested in Jhiram Valley massacre case

Raipur: Chhattisgarh High Court has rejected the bail application of two Naxalites arrested in the deadly Maoist attack at Jhiram Ghati that killed Chhattisgarh’s Congress frontline leaders.

The case was heard by the Division Bench of Justice MM Shrivastava.

On May 25 2013, Naxalites ambushed the Congress' Parivartan Yatra in Jhiram Valley. About 29 people, including Congress state president Nandkumar Patel, former union minister Vidhacharan Shukla, leader of opposition Mahendra Karma, had died in this attack. Three days after the incident, the police arrested the accused Kavasi Kosa and Hidima with a huge amount of weapons.

After the bail application was rejected from the NIA court, the accused in the jail, Kavasi Kosa and Hidma, through their advocate, had filed bail application in the High Court. After hearing the case, the division bench rejected the bail application of both the accused.
