Health min welcomes centers decision vaccine for all above 18 years, says it would be better if it has been announced earlier

Raipur: Chhattisgarh health minister TS Singh Deo has welcomed the decision of central government to open up vaccination against the coronavirus for everyone above age of 18 years.

“The vaccination process for everyone above 18 years of age will be started from May 1. I welcome this decision. However, 20 per cent of the population has to be vaccinated, had it been announced earlier, the atmosphere would not have worsened like this. It should have been announced before May 1, to avoid corona infection becoming so threatening”, said the minister.

He further added that the process of purchase of vaccination is objectionable. We are seeing already there is so much chaos in purchase of Remdesivir injections. It has been left in the market and anyone can buy it as they want. Food and drug officials are sitting on the gates of manufacturing place restricting the movement of goods outside. This is a very short-sighted decision. There is shortage of production in vaccine and if the vaccine is produced in adequate quantity, then the process of its distribution should be from one place, which the central government has lacked from its planning, said the minister.

Speaking on different lockdown duration in various districts of the state, the health minister said that the collectors of the respective districts have taken decision of lockdown keeping in view the ongoing situation and increase in spread of coronavirus infection.

Speaking on why the lockdown or curfew is necessary in the current situation, the minister said “the movement of people must be restricted to curb the spread of infection. If people are allowed to move freely then no one can stop surge in spread of infection especially when the infection is spreading at such an alarming rate”.

We are keeping a track on people coming from outside state to prevent spread of infection. It is more easier in villages to get information on how many people have come from outside, however, difficult in urban areas as it is difficult to keep a close watch on who has gone out of state or came back.
