Raipur. The second wave of Coronavirus in Chhattisgarh has brought back the previous round of lockdown. After lockdowns in Raipur, Durg, Rajnandgaon, Balod, Bemetra, Jashpur, Korea, Balodabazar, Korba, the towns Dhamtari and Raigarh are also under lockdown. Everything will be closed in Dhamtari on Sunday from noon to April 26. Raigarh will be under lockdown from April 14 to 22. So far, 11 out of 28 districts in Chhattisgarh have gone under lockdown.
Durg was closed on April 6. From 6 pm today, three more districts, Rajnandgaon, Balod and Bemetra, will be under lockdown. This lockdown will continue till April 19. Jashpur, Korea, and Balodabazar will also shut down from April 11 to 18.
Raipur came under lockdown after 6 pm on Friday. Collector Dr S. Bharatidasan and Superintendent of Police Ajay Kumar Yadav took to the streets with a heavy police force. By evening, the shutters of all the shops had fallen. Raipur streets are completely silent since this morning.
Shortly before the lockdown, the Raipur district administration has taken action against some merchants selling goods at a higher rate than prescribed. Sack of Potatoes worth 600 rupees was being sold for 950 rupees at Sagar Trading Company in Dumratrai. Officers fined him twenty-thousand rupees. The municipal team also kept investigating throughout the day. A total of thirty-five thousand rupees as penalty were recovered from different traders.
Passengers arriving by plane must have a negative Rt-PCR report; 72 hours in advance. Passengers who do not have this report will get tested for COVID at the airport itself. If they test positive, they will have to go into quarantine.
The Health Department, which is struggling to control COVID, is now recruiting. The Health Department has now started the recruitment process for 4143 different posts. For the posts like Doctor, Nurse, Technical Staff and Microbiologist, this recruitment is contractual and will last for three months.
As of Friday night, Chhattisgarh has 11447 new patients. Sixth-three people have died in the last 24 hours. A total of 4654 people have lost their lives so far. According to the latest figures, 337156 people have recovered so far. Raipur city has 2622 new infections and has 18660 active patients. The whole state has 76 thousand 868 active patients.
