BJP organises foot-march amidst heavy rain in protest against religion conversion

Raipur:The BJP seems to be ready for a decisive battle against Congress government of Chhattisgarh as far as the issue of religion conversion is concerned. In this sequence, BJP leaders, including senior leaders, took out a foot march amidst heavy rain under the leadership of party state president Vishnudeo Sai. Starting from Azad Chowk, the foot march reached Raj Bhawan to submit a memorandum to Governor Anusuiya Uikey highlighting the issue of conversion. 

Earlier, a meeting of the party was held at party‚Äôs city office at 1 pm. Sai chaired the meeting.  Leader of Opposition Dharamlal KaushikRajya Sabha MP SarojPandeyRamvichar Netam, MP Sunil Soni, MLA Brijmohan AgrawalShivratan Sharma, Ajay Chandrakar, BJP district president Shrichand Sundraniand former minister Rajesh Munat reached Azad Chowk led by Sai.

They BJP workers shouted slogans against the state government and alleged the government of sheltering conversion. It is to be mentioned, BJP MLA BrijmohanAgrawal and others on Friday alleged that Purani Bastipolice adopted a biased attitude while dealing with a case of conversion. Instead of taking action against the pastor caught red-handed in Bhatagaon, police made the youths sit for hours in the police station. Later, police sent back the youths, but did not take action against the pastor.


According to the case, a group of people allegedly beat a pastor in the police station for religion conversion. Following the incident seven people were booked. The SSP had removed the Thana In-charge.  The BJP had tried to stage a gherao at the Purani Basti police station three days back on September 8 over the issue.However, police prevented the BJP workers, some of them were arrested and later released.

\BJP delegation submits memorandum to Governor seeking her intervention to stop religion conversion 

A delegation of BJP met with Governor AnusuiyaUikey at Raj Bhawan and submitted a memorandum highlighting increasing number of cases of religion conversion in the state in last two years. The delegation urged government to ask the state government to curb religion conversion, the pastor should be booked on sedition charge for insulting the constitution of India and religion sentiments, release of the workers who serving the jail for preventing religion conversion, action should be taken immediately in cases related to religion conversion pending in various police stations. Such cases should be resolved at the earlier, said the delegation.
