Bilaspur. Some Conmen have duped a retired employee of the Department of Atomic Energy of his entire savings.  The police are investigating the case. Ram Khilwan Thawait, a retired employee of the Department of Atomic Energy, resident of Tikrapara Mannu Chowk, lost his entire savings of about fifteen lakhs to online fraudsters in several instalments. On November 17, 2019, Firangilal Thwait received a call from an unknown mobile number. The caller said that his mobile number has been selected as the winner in a lucky draw and that he will receive a prize of Rs 5 lakh and a pulsar bike. He had to deposit 1100 rupees to get the reward amount. After that, the conmen deceived him into depositing different amounts in several instalments. They later informed him that they had sent the file regarding the reward to Raipur. After that, they told him that the reward amount was increased to Rs 15 lakh. Again he deposited different amount in several instalments.

Ram Khilawan deposited a total of 14 lakh 75 thousand 450 rupees. The criminals kept asking for more money on the pretext of increasing the reward amount and transferring the amount to his account. The police have registered a case against unknown mobile holders under sections 420, 34.

The thugs continuously increased the reward amount from 14 lakhs to 25 lakhs, and Ram Khilawan Thwait kept depositing more and more in hopes of getting the reward. In between, the thugs had switched off their mobiles. Suddenly in November 2020, they re-established contact with him, and again he kept on depositing money under their guise.

Retired employee Ram Khilwan Thawait got conned into depositing his life's savings within the last two and a half years. The financial condition of his house has deteriorated. He has urged the police officers to get his money back.
