Surguja: Man arrested on the charges of animal trafficking escapes police custody while being shifted to hospital after testing positive for Covid

Raipur: A man arrested on charges of animal trafficking has escaped police custody while he was being shifted to Medical College Hospital after testing positive for Covid-19.

Ranjit alias Shambhu, resident of village Deori in Surguja district was arrested on the charges of animal trafficking by the Dhaurpur police. The accused was tested for covid-19 before presenting before the court on March 8. He was being shifted to the medical college hospital in health department ambulance with another Covid infected woman after his reports came positive.

On the way, the accused tricked the driver to stop the ambulance by making an excuse to pee and after getting down he escaped from the spot. After the accused escaped, the ambulance driver admitted the infected woman to the hospital for treatment and went to the Dhaurpur police station to lodge a complaint regarding the same. The police a crime against the accused under the relevant sections said the police sources.

However, after the incident the police are being questioned to left a corona positive accused alone with ambulance driver.
