Bilaspur. 'World Elephant Day' was celebrated on 12th August at Kanan Pendari Zoological Garden, Bilaspur. An essay and painting competition related to the elephant was held on this occasion.
Forest Divisional Officer Bilaspur Kumar Nishant informed that prizes were also given to the winning participants in the competition organized at Kanan Pendari Zoo. Among the 12 participants involved in the essay competition, Shreyash Kashyap bagged the first prize, Aarush Prasad second prize, and Poonam Vastrakar got the third prize. Similarly, in the painting competition, the first prize was awarded to Himangi Haldar, second prize to Anya Agnesh Prasad and third prize to Shambhavi Sahu.
Six hundred twenty-five wild animals of 66 species are at the Kanan Pendari Zoo, including 386 wild animals of 33 mammalian species, 76 wild animals of 12 reptile species and 163 birds of 20 bird species. Visitors can tour the zoo by paying the prescribed fee. Various types of entertainment places and hammocks etc. are in the zoo for the entertainment of the children.
