Two BJP candidates joins Congress ahead of Marwahi by polls

 

Raipur: Two former BJP candidates Archana Porte and Dhyan Singh Porte has switched over to Congress in Chhattisgarh ahead of Marwahi (ST) bypolls which is going to be held next month.

Archana Porte has contested against former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi as a BJP candidate from Marwahi (ST) assembly seat in Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly elections 2018 wherein she emerged as a runner-up. Besides, Dhyan Singh Porte was also a BJP candidate in 2008 polls.

Archana Porte and Dhyan Singh Porte have joined the Congress on Thursday in the presence of Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi Minister Jai Singh Agrawal, Congress in-charge of the organization Atal Srivastava and State Congress spokesperson RP Singh. Meanwhile, Congress candidate from Marwahi (ST) seat KK Dhruv has also filed nomination for the bypoll on Thursday. Soon after joining congress, Archana Porte without taking any names, said that some people have been seizing the rights of tribals for 20 years. They call themselves Adivasis but haven’t done anything for the tribal community of Marwahi for 20 years.

Meanwhile, Marwahi (ST) by polls is scheduled to be held on November 3. The seat fell vacant after the death of its sitting legislator and former chief minister of Chhattisgarh Ajit Jogi. BJP has fielded Gambhir Singh for this seat and Congress has fielded KK Dhruv. At the same time, Amit Jogi, son of late Ajit Jogi from Janta Congress Chhattisgarh (J), is in the field.
