Raipur: Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Saturday strongly condemned the statement of BJP Chhattisgarh In-charge D Purandeswari and he sought an apology from the BJP leader on behalf of the Chhattisgarh people.
Addressing the media persons at Congress Bhawan in Raipur, Chief Minister Baghel said that the BJP leaders, including D Purandeswari, have insulted farmers, tribals, and the entire population of Chhattisgarh. It is to be mentioned, the State In-charge of BJP had said, “If BJP workers spit, the Congress Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and his Cabinet will be swept away.” This reaction had sparked a verbal spat in Chhattisgarh politics.
Even in the past, when the BJP in charge came to Chhattisgarh, she used to describe Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel as the biggest challenge and he is the farmer and his ministers being the farmers.
Baghel said that the land of Chhattisgarh is the land of Mother Kaushalya and the land of Minimata and therefore women are highly respected here.
Chhattisgarh symbolizes a sense of equality. Spitting here means hating. The statement of the BJP State In-charge clearly showed that there is so much hatred inside the BJP towards the people of Chhattisgarh. “I am a farmer first and then the Chief Minister,” said the Chief Minister, adding, Congress government is the government of farmers. The BJP is fostering so much hatred for the farmers, minorities, and tribals within it, Baghel said.
BJP’s feelings towards Scheduled Tribes, Tribes are visible to all. The cabinet of the Government of Chhattisgarh represents the farmers which are not liked by the BJP State in charge.
“There is no violence in our mind. This is the land of Sant Kabir, the land of Swami Atmanand and this is the land of Guru Ghasidas. Love is shared in this land. BJP is growing the crop of hatred,” said the Chief Minister.
The BJP has neither denied the statement made by its State In-charge not tendered an apology. The national leadership of the BJP as well as the leaders of the state feels that the Chahttisgarhia and the farmers here deserve hatred, said, Chief Minister. “Being a Chhattisgarhia, being a farmer is a matter of self-respect for us. BJP has challenged us. The BJP should apologize to all Chhattisgarhia,” said the Chief Minister.
Forest Minister Mohammad Akbar termed D Purandeshwari's statement as an insult to the people of Chhattisgarh. Spitting is an offense. If the collector takes cognizance, then she will have to pay the price for her statement.
Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey said what else BJP can think then this worse thing. “Only spitting has come out after three-day introspection camp of the BJP in Bastar,” said Choubey. The people of Chhattisgarh will counter this peacefully in the coming times, he said, adding he is an agriculture minister and a farmer also. Nagarnar Steel Plant is about to be sold, there is no discussion on it There is no talk of improving the economic situation in the camp, said Choubey.
