Raigarh. A team of thirteen elephants has joined the Gomarda Sanctuary from Mahasamund. These elephants had damaged crops in the village and were wandering in the nearby forest. The forest staff was monitoring the movements of these elephants.
Gomarda Sanctuary Superintendent R K Sisodia said that the elephants were wandering in the areas around Gomarda Sanctuary for the last five days. At night, elephants turn to the village and enter the fields and destroy crops. Elephants have caused significant damage to the rabi crops of Gajra Chauhan village. There are three cubs in this troupe and also ten male and female. The Forest Department is assessing the damage done by the tuskers. They are also patrolling the affected areas at night.
