Raipur: Aiming to increase its freight revenue and
to facilitate efficient freight transportation for customers, Indian Railways
has recently launched a Freight Business Development (FBD) Portal.
This portal will not only help the customers, but
will also benefit the railways. Indian Railways has taken this step with a view
to expand the scope of its freight transport and to increase its revenue. This
portal has been developed by the team of Center for Railway Information Systems
(CRIS). This Freight Business Development Portal (FBD) has been specifically
designed and developed on the principle of ‘putting customer first’.
Customers who want to get freight services will be
able to see the route of the train, the distance to where the goods have to be
transported, the freight charges etc. Apart from this, they will also be able
to digitally book freight services through this portal. Information on freight
calculator, GIS based consignment tracking, terminal dashboard, incentive
scheme etc. has been provided in this portal. Apart from this, customers will
get many facilities in this regard.
There are many features for customers on this
portal. Through this portal they can also contact railway officials for their
complaints and suggestions. The new freight business development portal will
also be a means of providing contact with railway officials to new customers concerned.
Customers will be able to contact the authorities through this and seek their
help to transport their goods. Apart from this, Rail Madad Grievance Redressal
Portal has also been linked to the new FBD portal.
