Mahasamund: Woman and her 5 daughters commits suicide jumping infront of train

Raipur: In a heart wrenching incident happened in Mahasamund on Wednesday night, a woman along with her five daughters committed suicide by allegedly jumping infornt train.

According to the information, when people saw dead bodies lying on the railway track on Thursday morning near Imlibhantha Nahar puliya in the district, they informed the Kotwali police station. Railways were also informed about this and the movement of trains has been stopped.

Soon after receiving information about incident, police rushed on the incident spot for further investigations. As per official police sources, the woman took such a horrendous step after a dispute with her drunken husband. Their dead bodies were found scattered 50 meters away on the railway track on Thursday morning. All the children who died were between 10 and 18 years of age. It is being told that the woman took such a step.

As per police, Keju Ram, the husband of Bemcha resident woman Uma Sahu (45), is addicted to alcohol. When he reached home after drinking alcohol on Wednesday evening, a dispute started between the husband and wife. After the heated argument Uma left the house at around 7.30 pm with her five daughters Annapurna (18), Yashoda (16), Bhumika (14), Kumkum (12) and Tulsi (10). Since then, he did not know anything. It is being told that between 9 and 9.30 pm, everyone jumped together in front of the Link Express and committed suicide.

Meanwhile, chief minister Bhupesh Baghel has expressed profound grief on the incident. He has directed the district administration and police to investigate the entire incident and ensure necessary action.

District collector Doman Singh has said that in the preliminary investigation it has been found that the deceased family has their own house in village Bemcha, District Mahasamund. The head of the family, Keju Ram Sahu works as a labour in a rice mill in village Mudhena. There is 2.5 acres of land in the name of Keju Ram Sahu and the family belongs to BPL category. 26 quintals of paddy has been sold by them. The information about family has been received initially. Further investigation is being done by the police in this regard, he said.

Taking a dig at state government, leader of opposition Dharamlal Kaushik said that since the Congress government was formed in Chhattisgarh, family members are committing suicides. Such incidents are not good for the state. Many incidents are happening in the name of financial crisis and liquor in the state. The government should think about this. The BJP has been told to send a delegation to investigate the matter. This delegation will investigate the matter and submit its report to the party.
