Takhatpur farmer commits suicide, Patwari arrested

Raipur: A Patwari has been suspended with immediate effect in connection with the suicide of a farmer in Takhatpur block of Bilaspur district.

As per the instructions of district collector Dr Saransh Mittar, strict action has been taken against Patwari in the case of the suicide of farmer Chhotu Kaivart of village Rajkapa of Takhatpur development block in the district. Patwari Uttam Pradhan of halka No 10, Nigarband has been suspended with immediate effect by sub-divisional officer revenue of Takhatpur.

According to the suspension order, the non-working of farmers in the villages falling in the said ‘Halka’ is a violation of the allocated work and relevant rules.

The Patwari headquarters would be Sakri in the suspension period. The deceased farmer has 0.70 acres of land in the name of Chhoti Kaivart, age about 58 years and there was no bank loan on him. One of his daughters is married. He has two sons one is driver and other one is a farmer.

Meanwhile, legal action is being taken by Takhatpur police against Patwari Uttam Pradhan by registering an offence under Section 306 IPC and the Patwari has been arrested for the said offence.
