
Raipur: Chhattisgarh government has announced
lockdown for 10 days in Raipur district starting from April 9 in the view of
rise in number of coronavirus cases.
As many as 3,302 people tested positive for
coronavirus in Raipur district as per data released late on Wednesday taking
the total tally to 79,729 cases. The total active cases in the district are
14,991 and total deaths recorded so far are 1,028.
Raipur district collector Dr S Bharatidasan has declared a lockdown in the entire district from 6 pm on April 9 to 6 am on April 19. During the lockdown period, all markets, shops, business establishments, banks and government and non-government offices will remain closed. Hospitals, medical stores, petrol pumps are exempted from these restrictions with certain conditions.
As per the lockdown guidelines issued, the
boundaries of the district will be sealed for the next 10 days from Friday
evening. All religious, tourism and cultural places will remain closed. The devotees
will not be able to visit temple during Navratri which is commencing from April
13. Besides, the liquor shops will also be closed for 10 days.
All types of meetings, processions, socio-religious
or political events are prohibited during the lockdown period. Permission has
been granted for petrol to government vehicles, ambulances, medical supplies,
LPG carriage, vehicles with e-pass, and cabs operating from railway stations,
bus and airport. On showing the admit card, the candidates will be able to get
petrol besides journalists will also get the same showing their identity card. Hawkers
and milkmen will also be allowed to get petrol. There will be an exemption for giving
petrol to such vehicles passing through the highway, which are not stopping in
the district.
The administration has also ordered closure of
grocery stores, fruit and milk shops this time. Milkmen will be allowed to
deliver milk at home from 6 am to 8 am and from 5 pm to 6.30 pm. Exemption will
also be given for newspaper hawkers in the same period.
Besides, as per the order domestic gas supply will
now only be on telephonic or online booking. Gas companies will deliver the
cylinder to the consumer's home. Also, pet shops and aquariums will be given exemption
from 6 to 8 am for and from 5 pm to 6.30 pm for feeding fodder.
Similarly, industries which have facility of accommodation
for labourers will only be allowed to run during the lockdown period. The work
can be continued by following the corona protocol.
The administration has made e-pass mandatory to move
out of the district. The admit card for the candidates and the identity card of
the employer of the employees of hospital, ambulance, railway, telecom and
airport will be allowed as pass.
Meanwhile, Raipur district collector Dr S
Bharatidasan held a discussion with the representatives of the business
organizations on Wednesday and appealed for cooperation in the lockdown. All the
delegates welcomed the decision of imposing lockdown in the district in the
public interest amid the corona fear. They said that their institutions will
fully support the administration in this fight against the deadly virus.
