Three police officers suspended in Kawardha over allegations of corruption

Raipur: As many as three police officers have been suspended in Kawardha over allegations of corruption and involvement in illegal activities. 

 

The suspension action has been taken against the outpost in-charge Bazar - Charbhata SI Geetanjali Sinha and Constable Hemant Rajput and Asif Khan on the direction of DGP DM Awasthi.

 

Kawardha SP said that there were constant complaints against the three policemen regarding corruption and illegal activities. In addition, the audio-related extortion by the police officers has gone viral and shows suspicious behavior. After the audio related to the money transaction went viral, the DGP directed the SP to suspend the three police personnel with immediate effect.

 

Awasthi has said that all IGs and SPs have been instructed to take strict action against the culprits. The DGP has said that no one will be spared, whether criminals or policemen. Strict action will be taken against the police officers who are involved in criminal activities or are not taking action against criminals.

 

Meanwhile, a day before this incident, Dhamdha police station in-charge Shailendra Thakur and SI Ramesh Pandey has also been suspended due to corruption and gambling. Besides, as per the direction of DGP DM Awasthi, SI Milan Singh and ASI Santhosh Patre of Kota police station of Bilaspur have been suspended for negligence in case of illegal deforestation. It has been alleged that they have provided wrong information in the case.
