Raipur: Health and Family Welfare Department, Chhattisgarh has been selected by the Public Health Foundation of India for the Excellence in Mental Health Award for providing excellent service in the state under the mental health programme during the corona pandemic.
This award is being given to the state for its outstanding performance in mental health program under the National Health Mission. According to the organization, huge efforts made by the state to reach the services related to mental health to the remote areas of the state are commendable.
Under the State Level Innovation Champ Project in Mental Health Program by National Health Mission, more than 1400 Medical Officers and Rural Medical Assistants have been trained by National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS) Bangalore. With the help of these trained medical officers and rural medical assistants, thousands of people affected by mental health problems have been counseled so far across the state.
Meanwhile, during the time of Covid-19 pandemic, when many people were suffering from mental health problems, their morale was boosted and other health services were also provided by the department under the mental health program through telecommunication service. Chhattisgarh will be presented this award in a programme organized on July 30 in New Delhi.
