Food Minister Amarjeet Bhagat on Wednesday launched a nutrition campaign at his official residence Surguja Kutir for Manpur, Mohala and Chhuikhadan blocks of Rajnandgaon district, from Panabaras. Bhagat said that Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel launched the ambitious Mukhyamantri Suposhan Yojana on October 2, 2019, to provide nutritious food to malnourished children and pregnant mothers. Three development blocks of the district - Manpur, Mohla, Chhuikhadan, where malnutrition is high, were added to the campaign. Under the scheme, all malnourished children will receive additional nutritious food. Eggs, peanuts, jaggery, gram etc. were given in the diet even during normal and Covid times. Additional diet will be provided to anaemia and malnourished children and mothers through Mineral Trust Fund.
Bhagat said that the participation of people in the campaign is vital to overcome malnutrition. The cooperation of organisations like UNICEF and AIIMS in the campaign has so far been commendable.
Rajnandgaon Collector Taran Prakash Sinha, Director of AIIMS Dr Nitin M Nagarkar, representative of UNICEF, Anganwadi workers, ANM, Mitani and other local public representatives joined the launch of the campaign online.
