Raipur: Primary preparations for Covid-19 vaccination have started in Chhattisgarh as well. According to the instructions of the Government of India, a database of health workers working in all government and private health institutions of the state is being prepared. This database will be helpful in prioritizing for vaccination, although inclusion of names in the data-base does not mean that they will be compulsorily vaccinated. Final decision in this regard will be taken by the Government of India.
Health Minister TS Singh Deo said that the state has made adequate arrangements for the storage and maintenance of vaccines. 530 cold-chain (cold chain) points are currently operational and 80 new cold-chain points are being started for safekeeping of the vaccines. He informed that at present the total retention capacity of vaccines in the state is 1.5 lakh liters, which is 60,000 liters more than the requirement. A new walk-in-cooler has been provided to further strengthen this capability.
Officials of the Health Department said that a State Task Force Committee has been constituted for better interdepartmental coordination for Covid-19 vaccination. A state-level steering committee is also being formed under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary. Orders have been issued to constitute District Task Force Committee in all districts. The mission directors of the National Health Mission for Covid-19 vaccination will be the State Nodal Officer and the State Immunization Officer will be the Assistant Nodal Officer. The Nodal Officer for the districts will be the Collectors and the Chief Medical and Health Officers, Assistant Nodal Officers concerned. Further action will be taken as per the instructions received in this regard by the Government of India.
