Citizens should come forward to join farmers of the state in the Cooperatives Movement: CM Bhupesh Baghel

Raipur: Chief minister Bhupesh Baghel said that various cooperative activities are being conducted in the state in larger interest of farmers. The state Government is making consistent efforts to benefit maximum number of people through cooperatives. He emphasized that maximum number of citizens should be included in the Cooperatives Movement for farmers.

He said this while addressing the oath-taking ceremony of Chairman District Cooperative Central Bank Bilaspur, via video conferencing from his residence office here on Friday.

The oath taking ceremony of the newly appointed Chairman of District Co-operative Central Bank Bilaspur Pramod Nayak, was held in the courtyard of Co-operative Bank Bilaspur today. Cooperation Minister Dr Premsai Singh Tekam was specially present at the ceremony.

On the occasion, chief minister congratulated Pramod Nayak and extended best wishes for his new responsibilities. He said that several amendments have been made in the Cooperative Act to benefit maximum number of people from the cooperative movement. Fertilizers, seeds are distributed to the farmers from cooperative banks. Now Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojna, Godhan Nyay Yojana, Minor Forest Produce Procurement etc. have also become the part of cooperative movement.

Cooperative minister Dr Premsai Singh Tekam said in his address to the programme that Chhattisgarh Government has implemented several innovative pro-farmer schemes. Chhattisgarh is becoming a model state for farmer welfare schemes. He said that cooperative movement is important for the farmers. Chhattisgarh Government has strengthened the cooperative movement by facilitating a three-tier cooperative bank. Paddy procurement, fertilizers, seeds; medicines are accessible to farmers through cooperative banks. Earlier, farmers had to go through a lot of trouble to sell paddy, but then government made proper arrangement for systematic procurement. And now, farmers receive payment in their accounts within a week of selling paddy. New cooperative societies have been constituted for the convenience of farmers.

He informed that the number of committees in the state has increased from 1300 to 2058. Farmers' loans were waived off. Farmers are being economically empowered through Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana and Mukhyamantri Godhan Nyay Yojana.
