Chhattisgarh High Court seeks reply from state govt regarding non payment of funds to MISA prisoners

Raipur: Chhattisgarh High Court has sought reply from state government regarding non payment of funds given to MISA prisoners. 


Earlier, the High Court gave a time period of 90 days to reply for the same. However, the state government has not submitted reply even after 7 months. 


The division bench comprising of chief justice Ramachandran Menon has given time of 2 weeks to state for submitting it's reply.


Narayan Singh Chauhan has filed a petition in the High Court through advocate Mahendra Dubey stating that in May 2020, the High Court issued an order to the government to pay the outstanding honor fund of MISA prisoners from January 2019 to January 2020. The court gave a time of 90 days for this. Even after seven months, the payment is still pending. While the state government in January 2020 scrapped the pension scheme launched by former BJP government for MISA prisoners.
