Raipur: Chief minister Bhupesh Baghel congratulated and wished all the doctors on the occasion of National-Doctors-Day on Thursday. He expressed gratitude on behalf of the people of the state for their selfless services during the corona pandemic.
The chief minister said that in this crisis of corona, the struggle of doctors to protect the lives of corona infected will always be remembered. “During the corona pandemic, we all saw that you have served the suffering humanity regardless of the sufferings of yourself and your family members”, said chief minister while addressing a virtual program on the occasion of Doctor's Day organized at his residence office here.
On this occasion, he honored 22 doctors of government and private hospitals of the state for their significant contribution in saving the lives of corona infected in the state of Chhattisgarh during the covid pandemic. The program was organized by the Indian Medical Association Chhattisgarh unit. At the beginning of the programme, the chief minister paid tribute to the portrait of Bharat Ratna Dr. Vidhanchandra Rai and remembered his contribution.
He said that immediate steps need to be taken to further strengthen the medical infrastructure in Chhattisgarh. That is why all government hospitals from villages to cities are being equipped with all the necessary facilities. Steps are also being taken to overcome the shortage of doctors in rural areas. Now more number of specialist doctors will be appointed in these areas. Not only will there be excellent facilities in the government hospitals in the villages, we are also encouraging the private sector to set up their own hospitals in the villages. Private-sector capabilities will also be used to develop a world-class medical facility in Raipur. 25 acres of land is being reserved for setting up a private-sector hospital with similar facilities in Nava-Raipur.
Health Minister TS Singh Deo said that during the corona crisis, the doctors have served humanity selflessly with full devotion and dedication. He said that doctors are considered equal to God in the society. Doctors will always contribute in saving lives of people.
During the programme, a two-minute silence was paid to the doctors who sacrificed their lives while fighting the battle to save the lives of the people during the pandemic. In the programme six doctors of Chhattisgarh including Dr. Rakesh Gupta, Dr. Siddharth Verma, Dr. Mandeep Tuteja, Dr. Naveen Dulhani, Dr. R.K. Khandwal and Dr. Shailendra Gupta have been felicitated.
