Raipur: Health minister TS Singh Deo on Wednesday observed one day long fast in support of the farmer's protest.
TS Singhdeo said that this is to show solidarity towards the farmers. "We all should raise our voice for them. Till the demand of the farmers is met or till the agitation goes on, I will hold fast once a week", he said.
According to information received from his residence office, the minister will continue normal administrative-political work during the fast. This fast will be symbolic to show solidarity with the agitating farmers.
Farmers association associated with Chhattisgarh Kisan Mazdoor Mahasangh also observed daylong fast at the Dharna place in the state capital. Besides, women representives also participated by observing fast. Chhattisgarh Sikh Society break their fast by feeding them dates prasad.
Chhattisgarh Kisan Mazdoor Mahasangh's Dr Sanket Thakur said, "Farmers' organizations of Chhattisgarh will also protest by beating thaali during the broadcast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's" Mann Ki Baat "on December 27. The event will be on the guidelines of the Kisan movement.
Thakur said that now they want to take the movement to other cities and villages of the state. For this, a round of meetings is going on in cities and villages. The strike has started in Bilaspur, Dhamtari, Rajnandgaon, and Durg.
Meanwhile, Singh Deo said on his official Twitter that he will observe one day fast on Wednesday in support of the farmer's protest. "The hands that give us food have been forced by the Modi government to chill in the cold. All of us should raise our voice against this injustice happening to farmers", the tweet said.
