Two policemen in Koriya district suspended for accepting bribe

Raipur: Two policemen including Janakpur TI has been suspended in Koriya district for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe from an accused indulged in illegal transportation of Ganja.  

On the instructions of DGP DM Awasthi, Janakpur TI and ASI of Koriya district were suspended with immediate effect. They have been found prima facie in the investigation for letting an accused caught in transporting illegal Ganja go after accepting bribe.

SP Santosh Kumar has taken suspension action on Janakpur police station TI Jawahar Lal Gaikwad and Kunwarpur outpost ASI in-charge of Laxmchand Kashyap. In addition, a departmental inquiry has been ordered in the matter. During the suspension period, the headquarters of the above two policemen have been fixed as the Reserve Center Baikunthpur.

Meanwhile, the DGP had directed all the superintendents of police to take strict possible action against illegal liquor and ganja business. Awasthi had issued instructions that in case of smuggling of illicit liquor and ganja, disciplinary action would be taken against the concerned station in-charge.

This aforementioned incident took place on August 3 at Bahrasi police station, Janakpur, in which the police station in-charge and the outpost in-charge let the car go after catching a ganja cart containing three people. After receiving the complaint, SP Santosh Singh asked ASP Dhirendra Patel to conduct a preliminary inquiry.
