Raipur: Five workers of steel plant in Raigarh suffered burn injuries on Sunday after hot ash fell on them while they were engaged in the work of opening the block of dust settling chamber.
According to the police sources, the incident happened at JSW Monet plant under Bhupdevpur police station at around 1:30 pm. As many as five workers including Jeevanandan Deshmukh, Madhukar Raote, Manish Gupta, Shiv Sahu and Shankar Katakwar went for repair work when the dust settling chamber in the plant number 4 got blocked. The workers were hitting the water pressure in the chamber to open the block of the chamber, when suddenly hot ash and water pressure came out of the chamber. Due to which five people working there suffered serious burn injuries, who have been admitted to Jindal Fortis Hospital by the company management.
Soon after getting information about the incident, Superintendent of Police Santosh Singh reached Jindal Fortis Hospital for investigation. Among the injured, Shankar Katakwar was seriously injured and he was referred to Raipur. Bhupdevpur police has also started investigation after reaching the spot and hospital.
The injured are being treated in the hospital and two workers are being sent to Raipur via air ambulance, said the police sources.
