Raipur: A malaria-free campaign has been launched in the Gariaband district of Chhattisgarh in the line of Bastar and Surguja. The team formed for the successful implementation of the campaign is visiting to conduct malaria tests on suspect cases using RD Kit and give the first dose of medicine if found positive. Later, medicines are made available at the sub-centers.
Chief Medical and Health Officer N R Navratn said the malaria eradication campaign was started in the Gariaband district from June 28 and it will continue till July 31. As many 600 employees and officials are engaged in this duty. A target of examining 1.19 lakh people of 119 villages has been set. Till date, 46110 people were examined. Major thing is that only 99 people were found positive for malaria
Gariaband district contains 671 villages and the villages included in the malaria eradication campaign reported only 2 percent malaria patients. The highest 84 malaria-hit villages belonged to Mainpur block, 73 in Gariaband block, 13 in Chhurra, and 9 in Deobhog. Fingeshwar block has been declared a malaria-free block.
It is to be mentioned, 32 villages of Gariaband district included in the campaign are challenging for the malaria eradication campaign team. Rivers, canals, and hills come on the way to these villages in the rainy season. Keeping this in mind, a trained team was assigned with the responsibility of these villages.
