Raipur. Today, Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan held a virtual meeting with the health ministers of 11 states. In the presentation shown by the Ministry of Health in this meeting, the proportion of patients getting healthy was less as compared to new cases appearing daily. Chhattisgarh has an average rate of 13.6%, with Raipur being in the top 10 states in the district-wise review. They also discussed major topics of Oxygen Supply, Remdesivir injections, and Vaccination. The Ministry of Health said that Central and State Institutions were reviewing these subjects for the past two weeks. Home Secretary has issued an order for uninterrupted movement of oxygen between states; the cylinders are likely to reach by April 30. The Union Ministry of Health said that, at present, they are unable to provide vaccine in reserve to the states. Hence, they will receive vaccines in proportion to their need. Seven companies can manufacture Remdesivir, with a total capacity of 2.9 million injections.
Health Minister, T S Singhdeo, announced that right now, the scenario in Chhattisgarh is disturbing. The average positivity percentage of the state on April 16 is about 30%; for 13 out of 28 districts, it is less than 20%. Seven districts have a 20% to 40% positivity rate, and 8 have above 40%. There are currently 1,24,000 active cases in Chhattisgarh; it may cross around two lakhs. The situation of ICU beds is worrisome; Chhattisgarh has almost 100% occupancy. He added that according to figures, Chhattisgarh has 90% home isolation. We were working with a target of 80%.
Health Minister TS Singhdeo further said that, compared to other states, Chhattisgarh's performance in vaccination has been good. 14.6% of Chhattisgarh's population is vaccinated. The state has set a target of vaccinating 20% of the population. He also suggested that states with 16-17 per cent of the vaccinated population should have the option to recalculate for those below 45 years of age. Citing the currently available vaccine, he said that we have four lakh vaccines of Covishield and two lakh shots of Covaxin.
Health Minister TS Singhdeo expressed his thankfulness for making oxygen jumbo cylinders and small cylinders available. He also emphasised the need to cap prices, citing the example of Remedesvir; he said that the prices vary from 899 to above 5000. He also stressed that interstate movement of the anti-viral injection should continue uninterrupted.
