Raipur: “Police personnel dedicate their entire lives in serving the motherland. It is because of them, we feel safe in our homes. Police personnel work day and night to ensure our safety. Today, on the occasion of Police Memorial Day, we remember the valour of those brave personnel, who sacrificed their lives for the motherland”, said state governor Anusuiya Uikey while addressing the programme organized at Fourth Battalion, Mana Raipur premise, on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day.
On the occasion, she paid tribute to the martyred personnel and paid respect to their parents. Chief minister Bhupesh Baghel and home minister Tamradhwaj Sahu paid floral tribute to the martyr police personnel. They met the families of the martyrs and assured them of extending every possible support.
The governor said that despite the danger of Covid-19 infection, our police personnel performed their duties dedicatedly. Some even got infected, while others lost their lives to the pandemic. She added that our state is struggling with the problem of Naxalism. However, our Jawans in Naxal-affected areas are bravely dealing with this problem.
Chhattisgarh Police not only ensures safety in these Naxal-affected areas but also helps in bringing the misled people back to the mainstream. As a result of these efforts, people in Naxal-affected areas have become more aware. She expressed hope that soon Chhattisgarh would get freedom from the problem of Naxalism.
Chief minister Bhupesh Baghel said that the entire country is celebrating the Golden Jubilee of India's victory in the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War. “I salute all the jawans who ensured India's victory. Central Police Force personnel had fought the Chinese invaders valiantly in 1959. This incident is an example of the challenges faced by the police. On this occasion, we remember and salute the valour, sacrifices and service of the police personnel”, he said.
He said that we also salute the sacrifice, dedication and martyrdom of CRPF and other security forces personnel in Naxalism affected areas of Chhattisgarh. Giving the utmost importance to the work of the security forces, our government has taken a number of relief and welfare measures on top priority.
Home minister Tamradhwaj Sahu while paying homage to the immortal martyrs said that I bow to the brave martyred soldiers who made supreme sacrifice by showing indomitable courage. Chhattisgarh Police is dedicatedly working towards the development, trust and security in the Naxalite area. There has been a significant decline in the number of Naxalite incidents in the last few years.
Director General of Police DM Awasthi also addressed the programme. Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, additional chief secretary Subrat Sahoo along with senior police officers and families of martyred soldiers were present on this occasion.
