Bilaspur. In a shocking case, a man in Seoni brutally beat up and harassed a female Anganwadi worker in broad daylight. Marwahi TI Manish Singh Parihar informed that in her complaint the woman has alleged that while she was working at Anganwadi, Ravi Prasad Gupta, a resident of Seoni, harassed and acted indecently.
Ravi Prasad Gupta tried to steal her phone, and when she resisted, he thrashed her. She somehow reached the police station and filed a complaint. The police arrested the accused Ravi Prasad Gupta under sections 294, 323, 354, 354B on the victim's report and produced him in court. He remains in police custody. The accused is said to be a relative of the Congress leader of the area.
Harshita Pandey, the former chairperson of the State's Women Commission, strongly condemned the incident. She said that "The accused is said to be the relative of the local Congress leader. The incident demonstrates the arrogance of power, and the public is justly outraged about it."
