Raipur: Bilaspur police has arrested five people in connection with an incident of robbery and firing at Sati Shri Jewelers.
As per police, the main mastermind of the said incident is Dinesh Bandhekar, a resident of Talapara in Bilaspur, who, along with some of his Jharkhand colleagues carried out the entire incident. They made this shop a target as it is located in outer of the city.
Bilaspur Superintendent of Police Prashant Agrawal told the media persons that in the Sati Shri jewelry store near Nature City Colony of Sakri police station area, four unknown masked people entered the shop and attempted robbery at around 7:55 pm. Two of the accused shot Alok Soni, the owner when he tried to counterattack.
Soon after receiving information, all the top officials including the immediate Superintendent of Police reached the spot and inspected the spot and the blockade was immediately done around the city and forensic experts were immediately called to investigate the spot and help of the cyber cell was also taken, he said.
Considering the seriousness of the incident, Superintendent of Police Prashant Aggarwal also called an emergency meeting of all the top officials of the district late in the night. Under the leadership of Superintendent of Police Umesh Kashyap and CSP RN Yadav, 8 different teams were formed to arrest the accused. The teams investigated over 100 CCTVs around the site of the incident, 700 suspects were interrogated, old footage from the jewelry shop was also checked.
The accused also has a business of Ganja; the police contacted him on the pretext of buying some Ganja. When the police went to catch the accused, he also attacked the policemen during which two policemen were injured, but eventually, the accused was caught. During the interrogation, he revealed the names of his colleagues. Police have arrested his other accomplice from Ramgarh district in Jharkhand. The accused have carried out more than 20 other such incidents in the district and nearby areas, said the police.
Other four accused arrested in the case include Raju Sav of Bilaspur, Mohd Azhar Ansari, Jitendra Sharma and Mohd Nazir Ansari of Ramgarh, Jharkhand. The police have also recovered one pistol, 2 cartridges, motorcycle used in the incident, worn clothes and shoes from Dinesh Bandhekar, one pistol and 3 cartridges from Mohd Nazir Ansari and a motorcycle used in the incident from Raju.
