Olympian Saikhom Mirabai Chanu responds to IAS Borah on twitter

Raipur: An instant response by Saikhom Mirabai Chanu, Silver medalist of Tokyo Olympics 2020, to a tweet congratulatory message posted by IAS Sonmoni Borah on his Twitter handle went viral because of the humility shown by the Olympian.

In his tweet, Borah wrote, “Extraordinary gesture by @mirabai_chanu#MirabaiChanu as she conveys her gratitude to these wonderful #TruckDrivers! In her difficult days, these sand-carrying truck drivers used to give free transportation to Mira so that she could have training at 25 km away #spirts of the facility.

In reply, Chanu wrote, “Thank you@sonmonib5 sir. I will continue to support our people who have contributed to my journey at any level.”

After her return from the Olympics to Assam, Chanu touched the feet of those who helped her in her journey and these emotional moments are winning the hearts of many on social media.

In her tweet, Chanu wrote to Borah that she would be pleased to have support like this. “I will try hundreds of players like me are motivated.”  This message of Chanu is being liked by many users of Twitter. The likes have crossed 1200 marks.

It is worthwhile to mention, Chanu belongs to Assam and Borah is also basically from Assam. Chanu has responded to the tweet of Borah who is an IAS of the Chhattisgarh cadre. Like Borah, other bureaucrats from Chhattisgarh had congratulated Chanu, but she responded to Borah only. Borah has recently been relieved from Chhattisgarh for Central service and he will be joining the Land Resources Department of Central Government in Delhi.
