New Delhi. Renowned Hindi film critic of India,Ajit Rai will be wowing as the special guest at the most prestigious El Gouna International Film Festival of Egypt. The ceremony is being held in the city of El Gouna, Egypt from October 23 to 31. This would be the first film festival which is being held this year amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Festival director Intishal Al-Timimi said in his letter to Ajit Rai that "We feel proud to invite you. We respect your loyalty and dedication to world cinema, especially Arab cinema." Ajit Rai is the first Hindi journalist to get this distinction.
Ajit Rai is a well-known film journalist of the country who has been included among the world's most important film critics at the world's most prestigious Cannes Film Festival. He set a world record in this field by writing 75 articles on the 71st Cannes Film Festival of 2018. Across world 75 reports of the same journalist on a particular ceremony have not been published so far.
Born in Kasian village of Bihar's Buxar district, Ajit Rai had attended various film festivals all over the world and has taken Hindi journalism everywhere. He was honored by the President of Iran in 2012 by being invited to his royal palace. He is a consultant to the Bollywood Festival of Oslo, Norway. In 2012, he is the pioneer of Indian Film Festival’s in Berlin (Germany), Moscow (Russia), and Uppsala (Sweden).
Ajit Rai has said that there has been a cultural partnership between India and Arab countries for the last five thousand years. We have to make it strong through cinema. Ajit Rai, who attended film festivals such as Cannes, Venice, Moscow, London, Oslo has been the editor of Doordarshan's magazine "Drishyantar" and the National Theater School magazine "Rang Prasang".
He has been writing regularly on the World Cinema and Cannes Film Festival for a long time. He has been a jury on the selection committee for three times in the International Film Festival of India, Goa.
