CM announces renaming of Community Health Center, Dharsiwa and Government Higher Secondary School, Tekari after Shaheed Yogendra Sharma

Raipur: Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday announced to rename Community Health Center of Dharsiwa and Government Higher Secondary School Tekari after martyr Yogendra Sharma.

He made the announcement while virtually addressing a programme organized on birth anniversary of Martyr Yogendra Sharma in Kharora Nagar Panchayat.

“The sacrifice and contribution of Martyr Yogendra Sharma can never be forgotten. His martyrdom will always be remembered. Yogendra Ji served as a bridge between labourers and industrialists in Dharsiwa area. He helped the students in getting admission in the college and solved their problems related to education. His dedication and service determined the direction of his politics. Later, from year 1995 to 2000, he remained active as a Janpad member unopposed. From year 2000 to 2005, he served as a member of the Zila Panchayat. He had won this election with a record number of votes”, said chief minister.

He added that Shaheed Yogendra Sharma was born on August 12, 1962 in Tekari Gram Panchayat of Dharsiwa block. Yogendra ji was an energetic and renowned public representative full of potential. He started with student politics in Durga College. He was elected as the University Representative in 1985-86. He rendered invaluable service to the people of the area as a member of Janpad Panchayat and Zila Panchayat.

On the occasion, chief minister also released the book named “Naman Anchal Ke Shaheedo Ko” in memory of Martyr Yogendra Sharma.


Chief minister said that in the Jheeram Valley attack on May 25, 2013, we had lost many of our senior leaders and militant workers. Yogendra Sharma was one of them. His thoughts and unfinished works are being carried forward by his wife Anita Yogendra Sharma. She has been elected as MLA and now she is determined to make her husband's memories everlasting by working with the same spirit of service and dedication.

Baghel also paid tribute to Shaheed Yogendra Sharma on his birth anniversary. He extended his best wishes for the free health checkup camp and blood donation camp organized in Kharora Nagar Panchayat.

On this occasion, the wife of martyr Yogendra Sharma and Dharsiwa MLA Anita Yogendra Sharm and son Harshit Sharma werepresent at the chief minister's residence.
