complaint, Raigarh police have filed chargesheet just 4 days after registering
a case against a man for allegedly raping a minor girl.
As per police source, the family of minor girl
lodged a complaint in the Punjipathra police station on October 30 that the girl
had left her house in the morning without informing anyone. The family
suspected that the girl was coaxed by the youth living in their neighborhood Guddu
Kumar. Soon after registering FIR, the police station in-charge T.I. Manish
Nagar made a photo of the missing girl available to his staff and sent the team
for further investigations. Meanwhile, the staff found the girl sitting in
front of the gas godown, who was later brought to the police station.
In her statement the girl told that Guddu Kumar has
allegedly lured her and she was sexually assaulted by him. Taking immediate
action on the complaint the 20-year-old accused Guddu Kumar was arrested. Section
376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code and provisions of the POCSO Act were added
in the case, said the police officials.
Raigarh SP Santosh Singh appreciated the efforts of
the police team for taking quick action. He also instructed to take action in
getting compensation from the District Legal Services Authority to the victim
at the same pace.
Singh said that Raigarh police is committed to
provide speedy justice to the victim in rape cases. Fast track courts have been
constituted with the objective of providing speedy justice to the victims in
the cases of minors in the country. In such a situation, our accountability increases
so that the police proceedings in such cases do not slow down at any level and
in such cases the accused should be presented before the Court so that they
will get harshest possible punishment.
