Koriya police launches campaign “Nijat” against drug abuses

Raipur: In a unique initiative Koriya police has launched the campaign "Nijat" to make the district drug addiction free Nd stop related crimes.

 

Chhattisgarh legislative assembly speaker Dr. Charandas Mahant on Sunday flagged off the "Nijat" chariot of the police department. This awareness chariot will promote drug de-addiction in the district.

 

Earlier, while launching this program, Mahant said that this is a commendable initiative and such a campaign should be carried out continuously in other districts as well. Police should act honestly on all the people associated with drugs and illicit liquor, no matter how famous they are and whoever they are associated with, without putting pressure on them. He extended his best wishes to this campaign of freedom from drugs being started on the day of Independence Day.


 

Describing the outline and need of this campaign, Superintendent of Police Koriya Santosh Singh said that drug addiction has a very bad effect on the mental, economic, and family condition of the person. Campaign Nijat has three goals including action on a war footing by the police against those doing business of illegal drugs and narcotics, public awareness campaign with the help of the people, and help in counseling and rehabilitation of people addicted to it. The Korea Police has appealed to political, social organizations, various departments of the government, and the general public to join this awareness campaign and cooperate in the fight against drugs, narcotic substances, and illicit alcohol and help free Koriya district from these evils and crime associated with it.
