Pendra. The Janta Congress Chhattisgarh party (JCCJ) faced a setback today in the Marwahi by-election. Two JCCJ MLAs, MLA Devwrat Singh and Balodabazar MLA Pramod Sharma, suddenly reached Gaurela today to support the Congress even as the party has announced its support for BJP.
The two MLAs met Minister Jai Singh Agrawal at the Temple Tree Hotel in Gaurela. After this, Minister Jai Singh Agrawal, MLA Devwrat Singh and MLA Pramod Sharma held a joint press conference. Devwrat Singh said that Amit Jogi did not ask any member of the core committee before announcing his support for BJP in the Marwahi by-election. He said, "We are going to appeal to the people of Marwahi to vote for Congress. If this election is a fight between two different ideologies, then we will appeal on behalf of the Congress Party."
MLA Devwrat Singh stated that "Even when Ajit Jogi had a caste certificate, the BJP dragged him to Supreme Court, we do not know what agreement is in place now." Devwrat said that Renu Jogi wants to join Congress. He added their joining of the Congress depends on the High Command. "Unlike Amit Jogi, we have come to support the Congress. We can't join Congress on technical grounds as we are four MLAs." He said.
Balodabazar MLA Pramod Sharma backed everything Devwrat Singh said. Minister Jai Singh Agrawal said that "This is support for ideology and now we shall win in by record vote." State Congress Vice President Atal Srivastava, Spokesperson RP Singh, Abhay Narayan Rai, Pankaj Tiwari were also present during the press conference.
