Raipur. State Congress President Mohan Markam has hit back at BJP on Monday in a press conference at Rajiv Bhavan. He has said that the Centre had promised to take sixty-lakh metric tonnes of rice from Chhattisgarh, but they took only twenty-four-lakh metric tonnes of rice. The Modi BJP has committed another Anti-farmer act. Under Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana, Ten-thousand rupees per acre of aid is available to maize, paddy and sugarcane farmers, so why is the BJP troubled? Mohan Markam said that in the last fifteen days; BJP leaders have given a lot of statements. BJP's Chhattisgarh leaders are conspiring to disrupt the state's paddy purchase. The BJP government at the Centre is creating obstacles on the purchase of paddy just as the local BJP leaders want.
The paddy purchase is based on quintals while the Nyay Yojna aid amount is on per acre of land. The State Congress President declared that BJP's state in-charge, D. Purandeswari, had made a false statement that the Center has made an advance payment of nine-thousand crores for the paddy purchase. The Center did not make any advance payments; The state government purchases paddy through Marketing Federation (Markfed). MarkFed takes loans from various financial institutions, whose interest is refunded by MarkFed. There are plans to take a loan of sixteen-thousand crores this year as well. MarkFed took a loan of nine-thousand-five-hundred crores from NCDC (National Co-operative Development Corporation), whose interest will be borne by the state government. It has neither a grant nor aid from the Center.
BJP's co-in-charge is also making false statements. Last year, the state government was supposed to deposit twenty-eight-lakh metric tons of parboiled (USNA) rice in FCI, but only twenty-six-lakh metric tons of rice made it there. The remaining two lakh metric tonnes of rice was not deposited. The state government has asked the central government to increase the date of depositing rice. Mohan Markam has said that the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana was to help the farmers. There is no bonus on this.
Former Chief Minister of Bharatiya Janata Party, Dr Raman Singh, and nine MPs of BJP are misleading the Central Government. The quota of rice was reduced from sixty to twenty-four-lakh metric tonnes by providing the assistance amount of 10,000 rupees per acre to the farmers of Chhattisgarh. The central government is continuously obstructing the procurement of paddy in Chhattisgarh.
