Jashpur police arrests two people in connection with Ganja smuggling, 23 kg ganja seized from a luxury car

Raipur: Jashpur police has arrested two smugglers including a woman carrying 23 kg of ganja in a luxury car.

Police said that a special check post has been set up at Lavakera under Tapkara police station, the Orissa border of Nagalok in Jashpur district to prevent smuggling of ganja and other intoxicants. Vehicles coming from Orissa were being stopped and searched here on Tuesday morning at around 7.30 am. 

Meanwhile, a white color Hyundai i20 car number CG 13 C 8281 coming from Orissa was stopped and searched by the police. In which a total of 23 kg in 23 packets of narcotic drug Ganja, hidden in a plastic bag from the trunk of the car was recovered and seized by the police. 

Manoj Vishwakarma and Megha Kashyap, who were involved in smuggling, were taken into custody. The driver escaped from the spot and search action is being conducted by the police. During interrogation by the police, the accused said that they purchased these drugs from Jharsuguda Orissa and were taking them to Chhatarpur Madhya Pradesh. Police seized the car used in smuggling ganja and arrested the accused Manoj Vishwakarma, aged 35 years, resident of village Paya police station, Rajnagar district Chhatarpur and Megha Kashyap, aged 34 years, resident of Gosalpur police station are in Gosalpur district, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh and sent them to judicial custody.
