Raipur: Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel felicitated the family members of Freedom Fighter Dr Khubchand Baghel by offering them shawl and shreephal on the occasion of his birth anniversary on Monday. The Chief Minister said that it was the vision of Dr Khubchand Baghel for an independent state for the people of Chhattisgarh. The Chief Minister attended the birth anniversary programme from his official residence on virtual mode. Archaeological and Culture Department had organised the programme at Mahant Ghasidas Memorial Museum.
State Culture Minister Amarjeet Bhagat, Chhattisgarh Textbook Corporation Chairman Shailesh Nitin Trivedi, Additional Chief Secretary Subrat Kumar Sahoo, Culture Department Secretary Ambalgan P, Secretary to the Chief Minister Siddharth Komal Singh Pardeshi and relatives of Dr Khubchand Baghel and other freedom fighters were present at the CM House during the event.
Throwing lights on the life of Dr Khubchand Baghel, the Chief Minister said that Dr Baghel had dreamt of Chhattisgarh first. Dr Baghel was a litterateur and social reformer apart from a skilful politician. His life journey was full of struggle as he fought against injustice, exploitation, untouchability and other such social issues said the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister said that the state government is working on the path shown by the ancestors like Dr Khubchand Baghel. The state government is taking care of the interest of all sections here, said the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister said that the state government has increased the price of standard gunny bag of tendu patta from Rs 2500 to Rs 4000 and procurement of minor forest produce has been increased from 7 to 52.
He announced that the state government will soon come up with an innovative scheme for landless labourers of the state.
Addressing the programme, Minister Bhagat said that the contribution of Dr Khubchand Baghel in the social reform is commendable. Culture Department Director Vivek Acharya conducted the programme.
