Raipur: A camp has been organized for the screening of hearing-related disorders in the Pandri district hospital on the occasion of World Hearing Day on Wednesday, under the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Deafness (NPPCD). The campaign will be concluded on March 10.
World Hearing Day is observed on March three every year with an aim of bringing awareness regarding hearing problems in the public community. Along with this, information is also given to people about the treatment or prevention of hearing-related diseases.
The programme being conducted under the guidance of Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr Meera Baghel and Civil Surgeon Dr PK Gupta. Free of cost ear testing will be done in the camp. During this time, free medical advice and medicines along with hearing aids will be provided to people suffering from ear-related diseases.
Giving information about the programme, Post Graduate Medical Officer Dr Niti Verma said, “Under the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Deafness (NPPCD), the patients will be screened through a specialist at the district hospital for ear problems. Also, the facility of a cochlear implant for such children who have deafness since birth will be made available through the scheme operated by the Government of Chhattisgarh. The referral will also be arranged for serious and very serious patients found during screening. They will also be followed up regularly.”
State of the art BERA Machine Independence Audiometer, PureTone Audiometer, OAE Machine and necessary medicines have been arranged for the camp.
This campaign was started in Chhattisgarh in 14 districts in the year 2014-15, which is being extended to all 28 districts of the state in 2018-19.

The guidelines issued by the Government of India and the Government of Chhattisgarh for the protection of the Covid-19 epidemic will be strictly followed during the activities.
