Four arrested from Avanti Vihar for online betting on cricket

Raipur: Mobile handsets, laptop, cash, and other materials worth Rs 2.76 lakh seized. Raipur police claimed to have arrested four persons involved in online Satta /gambling in the Avanti Vihar area of the capital city. Raipur SP Ajay Yadav has issued a directive to all the gazetted officers in the police department to curb Satta/gambling activities in Raipur.



Acting on a tip-off, Telibandha police arrested the four accused identified as Dilip Chawla (46), Sanjay Chawla (28), Mehul Chandani, and Suraj Singh Rajput (26).

These accused used to bet on cricket matches using online applications such as Cricket Maza App, Cricket Line Guru App, and Cricket Fast Live Line.


Police seized 33 mobile handsets, one laptop, one electric device, one television, a calculator, and cash of Rs 15000, amounting to total of Rs 2,76,000 from the accused.

Telibandha police registered a case against the four accused under Section 4(A) of the Gambling Act.


The team of Telibandha police comprising Thana In-charge Sonal Gwala, Sub Inspector Umashankar Rathore, Constable Amit Sinha, Hemant Gilhare, Janki Sharan, Kuldeep, woman constable Mrinalini carried out the action under the directive of ASP (City) Lakhan Patel, ASP (Crime) Abhishek Maheshwari, CSP Nasar Siddique.
