Raipur: Nearly 1.04 crore vaccines have been administered in Chhattisgarh so far (till July 8) against COVID-19.

Chhattisgarh is ahead of many major states of the country in terms of population-wise vaccination coverage. 3.9 lakh health workers, 3.16 lakh frontline workers, 48.20 lakh people of age above 45 years and 31.32 lakh citizens in the age group of 18 to 44 years in the state have been vaccinated against corona. Likewise, 2.41 lakh health workers, 2.15 lakh frontline workers, 12.68 lakh people above 45 years and 82,724 people in the age group of 18 to 44 have received both the doses of the vaccine.

Over 91 percent health workers, 100 percent frontline workers, 82 percent citizens above 45 years and 23 percent youth in the age group of 18 to 44 have received their first dose of the vaccine against COVID-19. Similarly, 71 percent of the health workers, 73 percent of the frontline workers and 22 percent of the people of age above 45 years have been given both the doses of the vaccines.

About 30 percent of the population of the state has received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Chhattisgarh is ahead of many big states of the country in this regard. Chhattisgarh has higher vaccination coverage than Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Rajasthan. The national average of vaccination in the country is around 22 per cent. After vaccination on July 8, 1.98 lakh vaccine doses are available in the state. Of these, 1.61 lakh are of Covishield and 31,660 vaccines are of Covaxin.

As a result of the effective measures taken by Chhattisgarh government, COVID infection in the state is still under control. As of July 8, the infection rate in the state is one percent. The state's positivity rate was 8.5 percent in the last week of March, 30 percent in April and 4 percent in the last week of May. Since the beginning of corona infection, 9.78 lakh people in the state have recovered from COVID-19 infection. Out of these, 8.11 lakh patients have defeated corona in home isolation and 1.66 lakh patients have recovered after receiving treatment in COVID hospitals and COVID care centers. At present, the number of active COVID cases in the state is only 4914.
