Raipur: Chhattisgarh health minister TS Singh Deo said that vaccination against Covid-19 is being done on a large scale in the state besides stating that the number of corona testing has been increased and guidelines issued by the Government of India are strictly being followed for effective control of corona infection in the state.
Deo gave this information in a virtual meeting of heath ministers of various states chaired by union health minister Dr Harsh Vardhan regarding prevention of corona infection and vaccination. Health ministers and senior officials from 11 states of the country participated in this virtual meeting.
The minister further said that 3 to 4 lakh people are being vaccinated against corona every day and 36,000 to 40,000 people are being tested for corona infection. He informed that the corona infection has increased in Chhattisgarh in the last 2 months. Keeping this in view, the testing and vaccination work is being done at a fast pace. He said that with the increase in the number of corona tests, the number of people identified infected has also increased. They are being treated effectively in hospitals and home isolation. He said that due to strict adherence to the guideline, corona testing and vaccination in Chhattisgarh state, it is expected that corona infection will be reduced soon.
Deo informed that people are being made aware of wearing mask, using sanitizer and following physical distancing. The state government has directed to limit the number of people during mass programmes and marriages and other such events. On this occasion, he also requested the Union Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan to prescribe the objective criteria related to lockdown in places with excess corona infection.
The health minister informed the Union Health Minister in detail about the current status of Covid-19 in the state, treatment of patients here and necessary health arrangements. He informed that a large-scale vaccination is being done by the health department here under the guidance of chief minister Bhupesh Baghel. There are five divisions in the state. He informed that there are currently 7 RT-PCR laboratories for corona examination in the state. Apart from this, the work of setting up 4 laboratories is in the final stage. 5 other labs in the state have also been identified for corona examination.
He informed that contact tracing of people coming in contact with corona positive people is also being done. Constant appeals are also being made for people to follow preventive measures and take precautions for control of spread of infection. People are being motivated to do early testing soon after developing symptoms of coronavirus infection. Additional chief secretary Renu G Pillai and health secretary Sahala Nigar were also present in the meeting.
