Speculations are rife over 20-minutes closed door meeting between Singhdeo and Punia


Raipur: A 20-minute closed door meeting between Chhattisgarh Health Minister T S Singhdeoand Congress Chhattisgarh In-charge P L Punia on Thursday late evening gave birth to speculations. Even as details of the meeting could not be ascertained, political pundits see the meeting as crucial amidst ongoing battle between Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Singhdeo over two and a half year formula. 

Meanwhile, Singhdeo described his meeting with Punia as courtesy meeting.

According to Punia, he had come to Raipur to hold a meeting of the party organisation and discuss on strategies that can be adopted in view of 2023 Assembly elections in Chhattisgarh. It will be finalised after a meeting with the State Executive and other leaders actively associated with the party organisation. Agenda will be made only after discussion with all the stakeholders. Right now there is nothing important to tell.

On former AICC president Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Chhattisgarh, Punia said, “There is no such plan right now.”

On Savarkar’s apology to Britishers on the suggestion of Mahatma Gandhi, Punia said, “The people in BJP make efforts to prove the truth as wrong and vice versa. It is true that Savarkar apologised and he was awarded as ‘Wajifa’ for 60 months. All these in the record.Whether Savarkar accepted ‘Wajifa’ on the suggestion of Mahatma Gandhi”.

On Banaras rally, Punia said that Congress organised a massive rally and gave a strong message and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel was a part of the rally while Priyanka Gandhi was the centre of attraction. More than one lakh people were present in the rally. A new message was sent through this rally in the entire ‘Puvanchal’ and Uttar Pradesh. Congress is marching ahead with strength and fast pace in Uttar Pradesh, said Punia
