Modi govt has put national assets on mega sale: Maken

Raipur: All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary and former Union minister Ajay Maken on Friday said that the Modi government has put properties earned from public money on mega discount sale. Maken raised serious doubt over the intention of Modi government which, according to Makan, is taking decision secretly and suddenly. Makan stated these in the press conference held at Congress Bhawan here on Friday. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel was also present on the occasion.

Modi government has given birth to twin children in the name of development – one is demonetisation and the other is monetisation. The benefits of Monetisation is limited to certain corporate houses and capitalists of the country and property is being sold under it. Public Sector Units (PSUs) through hard work in the last 70 years are being sold by this government, Makan said.

He said that NDA has been poor record in comparison to UPA as far as infrastructural projects. He said that railways, airports, ports and other national assests are being sold at throw away price by this government at centre, Makan said. A conducive atmosphere is being created for monopoly in privatisation, Makan said. Telecom, Warehousing, mining etc. are being privatised, he said.

It is known to all that ports and airports are under hose possession. Monopoly in privatisation will also lead to employment crisis which is already visible at ground level. Sharing his experience about privatisation in Singapore and Australia, Makan said that electric wire and poles were privatised in New South Wells and now the tariff is now double within five years there. As a result, the Australian government had to intervene. Privatisation will only lead to exploitation of people, he said. The Congress is carrying out agitation against monetisation across the nation. Congress will oppose selling of national assets to private parties and intensify it in coming days.
