Raipur. Right intentions and policies lead to success. This saying is also applicable to the success of government schemes and programs. The policy and plan of the Government of Chhattisgarh are behind the immense popularity and success of the Gauthan and Godhan Nyay Yojana under the Garuva program launched for the care and protection of livestock. Not even a year has passed yet that 1135 Gauthans have become financially self-supporting in the state. The government's help is no longer needed to purchase cow dung and make vermicompost in these cowsheds. The Gauthan Samiti and women's groups have become capable and self-sufficient to conduct their economic activities. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has congratulated and congratulated the members of self-supporting Gauthan committees and women self-help groups. The Chief Minister also hoped that all the Gauthans of the state would gradually become capable and self-supporting and play their part in strengthening the rural economy.

The rural areas are experiencing a new atmosphere of enthusiasm with the Narva, Garuwa, Ghuruwa, Bari scheme of the Chhattisgarh government. The Narva program has helped in treating more than 3 thousand drains in the state. The farmers of the fields along the banks of the drains have benefitted from it. Under the Garuva program, the Government of Chhattisgarh has approved construction of 10,057 Gauthans in the villages. Out of which 5820 Gauthans are complete. Under the Godhan Nyay Yojana, dung is being procured regularly in the manufactured Gauthans. Other products are prepared along with the manufacture of vermicompost and super compost through women self-help groups. Due to this, about 85 thousand women have started getting employment and regular income.

So far, 48.32 lakh quintals of cow dung were purchased in Gauthans under Godhan Nyay Yojana, of which the cattlemen received an online payment of more than Rs 96 crores; this has benefited one lakh 70 thousand cattle farmers. In this, the number of landless is more than 75 thousand. Gauthan committees received 11.68 crores, and the women groups received Rs 7.82 crore as dividends. The women self-help groups have, so far, earned an income of Rs 29 crore from various income-oriented activities conducted in the Gauthans. Another advantage of setting up Gauthans in villages is that the bi-cropping area has expanded to about 4 lakh hectares during the Rabi season.
