Raipur:In a major announcement, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Monday said that a Badminton Academy will soon come up in the state. The Chief Minister assured that the state government will extend all possible support, including financial aid, for the development of sports in the state. The Chief Minister said this in a meeting of the office-bearers of various sports bodies of the state on Monday. It is worthwhile to mention, a meeting of the sports bodies with the Chief Minister was held after a long gap.
The Chief Minister further said that Chhattisgarh Sports Authority will be given the responsibility to appoint national and international level coaches at the request of sports bodies of the state.
It was discussed in the meeting that the industries in the state will be involved in sports activities and asked for the maintenance of the stadiums. Support of CSR fund of big industries will be sought for appointment of coaches, residential facilities for sportspersons and diet arrangement, said the chief minister in the meeting.
It was decided to hold a discussion on providing the excellent sportspersons with jobs in other departments like Forest and Police departments on sports quota. Sportspersons will be included in the committees of the Chhattisgarh Sports Authority.
Sports and Youth Welfare Department Minister Umesh Patel joined the meeting on virtual mode. Also present on the occasion were Parliamentary Secretary Vinod Sevanlal Chandrakar, Secretary to the Chief Minister Siddharth Komal Singh Pardeshi, Sports and Youth Welfare Department Secretary Neelam Namdev Ekka, Sports and Youth Welfare Director Shweta Sinha, Chhattisgarh Olympic Association general secretary Gurucharan Singh Hora, CGOA CEO Bashir Ahmed Khan international hockey player Padma Shri Saba Anjum, Mrinal Choubey and Weight Lifter Akashdeep Sarang.
