Women’s Self Help Group in Maharashtra have not stopped their work even during the lockdown. Through selling masks, sanitiser and other items, they have made a record turnover of 60 crores.
Self-help group members of Maharashtra are using lockdown as an opportunity to increase their business. Around 2,000 women from 730 self-help group have produced 9 lakh mask and earned more than one crore.
They sold more than one crore masks during the first wave of coronavirus and earned 13 crores 30 lakh rupees. Forty SHGs are also producing sanitisers. Around 2,000 SHGs in 34 districts of Maharashtra have sold vegetables of around Rs. 20 crores.
Through the sale of fruits, these SHGs have earned approximately Rs. 7 crores. The sale of various grains has provided them with more than Rs.15 crores.
Some of the SHGs are providing food to Covid care centres. Some are selling pesticides, fertilisers and seeds. Maharashtra’s Rural Development minister Hasan Mushrif said that some of these items are also available on various e-commerce platforms. It is helping them to reach more and more customers.
