Raipur: “Still lakhs of metric tonnes of paddy is lying in the open and has already sprouted due to continuous rains in the state. The officials of the food department are allegedly misleading the government by presenting wrong data of paddy lifting”, said BJP Kisan Morcha state vice president Gauri Shankar Srivas.
He was addressing press conference organized by the Bhartiya Janata Party Kisan Morcha Chhattisgarh on Friday to address the issue of huge amount of harvested paddy getting drenched in rains. He said that even today lakhs of metric tonnes of paddy has not been lifted. About 12 lakh metric tonnes of paddy have already rotted so far, which the Congress government is intending to give to liquor traders at throwaway prices.
He questioned that is the paddy being rotted under some well-planned conspiracy? “The wastage of paddy in this manner will not be tolerated by the Bhartiya Janata Party at all. This is an insult to both the food and the feeder”, he said.
He informed that as per instructions of BJP state president Vishnudeo Sai, investigation teams have been announced in all the districts of the entire state for this matter. This investigation team will visit all the paddy procurement and paddy collection centers on June 19 and 20 and prepare a report and this report will be submitted to the organization. The investigation team will include former MPs, former MLAs and officials of Kisan Morcha.
Former agriculture minister Chandrashekhar Sahu, District President Raipur City Gajju Sahu, State Media In-charge Kisan Morcha Ajay Sahu were present in the press conference.
