Raipur: The Central Excise and Customs team has recovered a cash of Rs 32 lakh along with 5 tons of silver, four and a half kg of gold from a jeweler in Rajnandgaon district.
As per official sources, the team has raided the Mohini Jewelers of Jasraj Shantilal Baid firm, located in Nandai area of the district. This team has been taking its action by conducting frequent raids on smuggling related to gold and silver. The team has conducted a raid in the house of Nandraj of Jasraj Shantilal Baid around 12 noon on May 1, which lasted till late night. During the raid no one was allowed to come inside nor was anyone allowed to go outside. This team has taken its action for two consecutive days.
Rajnandgaon ASP Kavilash Tandon said that we have been informed that 5 tonnes of silver, four and a half kilogram gold and cash worth Rs 32 lakh have been recovered from Mohini Jewelers' house. The Central Excise and Customs team has taken this action on the basis of inputs received from Raipur. Further investigations are underway.
Meanwhile, it has also been informed that this team had detained 4 accused from Raipur besides recovering 13 kg of gold. After which the team conducted raids based on the input of these people. However, the officials involved in the investigation, who reached the spot in this regard, have not interacted with the media in any way.
According to official sources Mohini Jewelers have been sealed. Along with this, one of his houses has also been sealed. It is being told that more than 12 officers were involved in the Central Excise and Customs team. At the same time, the help of local police has also been taken. But so far no information from the team has been shared with the media.
