Korba. Elephants are dying one after another in Chhattisgarh. Despite the forest minister's order, there is no decline in elephant deaths. This time, again a baby elephant has died in Korba. However, the reason for its death is not clear yet. The forest department team is investigating. It is worth mentioning that in just 5 months, 14 elephants have lost their lives in Chhattisgarh.
The case is of Lalpur village of the Kedai range in Katghora forest division. The dead body of a baby elephant was found lying on the bank of a pond on Monday morning. There are also bruises in its trunk. It is feared that it may have died due to injury. On receiving the information, the Forest Department team reached the spot. Two baby elephants and a female elephant have died here in 10 months.
The process of elephant deaths continues since June
October 26th: The corpse of an elephant was found on the banks of the pond in Katghora, Korba.
October 17th: A baby elephant died due to drowning in a pond in Katghora forest division of Korba.
September 28th: Elephant dies due to negligence of the electricity department in Gariaband.
September 26th: Hunters struck an elephant with the current at Pithora in Mahasamund
September 23rd: Elephant died due to electrocution at Dharamjaigarh, Raigad.
August 16th: Male elephant dies after consuming poisonous substance in Surajpur
July 24th: Male elephant killed by electric current in Jashpur
July 9th: 8-year-old male elephant dies during treatment in Korba
June 18th: Elephant dies due to current in Dharamjaigarh, Raigad
June 16th: Elephant dies from current in Dharamjaigarh, Raigad
June 15th: Elephant's child dies due to being trapped in the bog in Madamasilli forest, Dhamtari.
June 11th: A female elephant died in Atauri, Balrampur.
June 9th and 10th: Two female elephants, including a pregnant elephant, died in Pratappur, Surajpur.
